Urgent-vs-Important-Matrix-300x300

Often we are inundated by copious amounts of activities
Which demands our attention. There are emails to reply to,
Bills to pay, birthdays to attend, groceries to buy, plates to clean,
Floors to vacuum, sheets to change, phone calls to make;
More often than not, we end up 'fire-fighting', or dealing with the
Activity that requires our most urgent attention, even though it might
Not necessarily be an important one. I like to refer to
This time management matrix, which categorizes the activities
Into four broad areas. The oft-neglect quadrant is quadrant number 2,
Or the 'important not urgent' - which are long-term and strategic areas,
Usually related to one's values and strategies. Having the right focus
In this area, such as capability improvement, relationship building,
Recognizing new opportunities, etc, will often lead to a clearer vision,
A balanced life, and less crisis situations, as these important activities
Will eventually become 'urgent' anyway.

Now I sound like a life coach..... doh.
