:: The Ride ::

I once wrote about how phases of our lives are like parts of a roller coaster ride -

There is the initial anticipation - a mix of excitement and trepidation,

As we eagerly pay for our ride tickets, and join the long queue of people like us,

We are stirred and aroused by the adrenaline-laden screams of those that preceded us.

Then, our turn comes. We shuffle into our assigned seats, nod heedlessly to the

Safety instruction video. We feel the metallic chill of the restraining bar that holds us to our seats.

We hear the clanking of the gears. There is a slight jerk, and off we go, in that slow but steady crawl.

Everything seems to freeze for that moment. Then we move off the edge of the acclivity.

Wheeeee! We are dazzled and dazed and everything becomes a blur,

Until, in what it seems like something just a short few seconds, the ride comes to a stop.
