"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"

"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.

"I don't much care where --" said Alice.

"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.

Reminds me of this joke in New England, that when you ask directions from any older person, their most likely response is "you can't get there from here."

Sometimes it seems that way when we are along life's journey and we want to get to point A and wonder if it's possible to get there from where we are. But of course we can if we have the right directions, and most importantly, know where it is we want to go.

:-)

I believe that every road leads to Home...

But I tend not to take directions from strangers with insincere grins on their faces... :P

Many a times it is not the destination that is important, it is the journey.
It is this process that allows us to grow and experience life. Most important when we grow old, we can laugh off at certain decisions we made at the cross roads.

a journey is useless without a destination. aimless journey is pointless and frustrating. i rather standstill if i do not have a destination.

oops i should rewrote this abit..:P
jus woke up during that time.

having a destination and aim is important but sometimes its the journey thats really give life its meaning...

wanna walk with me?
:)

i could have sworn i quote this exact same passage to you on your blog a long while back

When you live on a philosophy that, in the end there is just nothing. You would simply not care where u r heading to, and would live the life that you want and could make you happy. But as human being we all wanted control in our lives. We put in an explaination in everthing that it unexplainable. We fear of the unknown the uncertainity in lives and we needed a direction. On another point of view have a direction help us to move on in life otherwise alice might be still sitting there on the same spot not knowing on where to go . She could be sitting there doing nothing cause she don't really care.

ha ha . I don't think into_the_wild is really 'living' a philosophy whereby, in the end, there is nothing - and hence, do nothing. On the contrary, very much a person in charge and certain about where he is leading in life. Very inspiring!

Hi water_sapien,

Firstly, i apologise ...i think my comment might not really come out right.

Point 1) the you i am refering to is not refering to into_the_wild but you as a general,
Point 2) I do agree that into_the_wild is a pretty inspiring person
Point 3) I'm just stating that if a person who could live a life with the philosphy of "it leads to nothing" in the end. There could be two possible outcome.
1) Cause you know in the end you have nothing to lose for which you will have nothing. You could preform your best, knowing that there is nothing to lose, nothing to tie you down, nothing to hold you back. You would go all the way doing the things you think is right.
2)When you know that there is nothing, you would live your life with no directions of which end of the day you might come back to the same spot cause you have been walking in a circle.

There is alway more than one point of view which you can look at things.
For example, judging for what you have commented. I would guess that you are a person who has been inspired by into_the_wild. And probably a close friend to have jump out to his defence. Or you could be a fan of into_the_wild works etc. But i think the first option is more appropriate. Ha ha i could be right or could be wrong just my 2 cents worth of comment.

Pretty curious on the answer...care to share?

how true!...but how simple as well. Sometime we never think more than we ought to. =p

you alway have a unique way of presenting your entries :)
great one!
