:: not yet the end of the week ::

It has been a hectic week; an overdemanding boss
  • who stays till ten every night

  • who used to work in the policy department

  • who has a penchant for arranging a meeting at one but turn up at two

  • who feels that by raising his subordinates' threshold he is doing them good

  • who dictates what he wants in the paper and the work is left to the poor fella typing frantically in front of him

can crash the most motivated soul. Nevertheless I stick to my principles that anything that does not kill me only makes me stronger. Life gets better through adaptation, be it willing or otherwise.

Plans this weekend? Nigel and Olivier have arrived in town so I'd be hosting and showing them around. Nigel is my igirisu-friend I met in Shinjuku eons ago, while Olivier is a furansu-friend of Nigel that I met four years ago, in Tokyo as well. While I've been keeping constant contact with Nigel, Olivier was just a name for the past four years. It is good to see him again, and somehow the memories from Japan all came back to me.

I've had my cybershot since '99, and decided to go through a quickie memory lane, back to those japan years. It's amazing how far this journey I've walked, with those friends that came and went and those that remained. For those that went away, my heart extends to them the best, in the journeys that they walk. They are scattered all over the globe, and are just engrossed in whatever that they're doing, while their distant friend here is thinking about them. The long and winding journey goes on.

Akio and Yanase.

Akio, I remember the gyuudon, taken during the wee hours of the morning. It'll always be part of me.
Yanase, I thank you for the watch that you gave me, which I never used.

While I still keep in intermittent contact with Akio, Yanase has drifted beyond the horizon. How do I get in touch with him again? Why do some friends drift that far away? To me, friends never go away; the friendship is only kept frozen with time, and when the hearts touch will the friendship thaw; the smiles will melt the ice away.

The journey goes on. If I've got a hundred years to live, as aptly put by Five for Fighting, I'm more than a quarter through.

Half time goes by
Suddenly you’re wise
Another blink of an eye
67 is gone
The sun is getting high
We're moving on...
I'm 99 for a moment
Dying for just another moment
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

The journey goes on.
And on.
And
on.

thanks for encapsulating something i had been struggling to word.
true friendships plant seeds in our hearts, they grow on contact in an unending season.

i miss japanese food..
:x

Its time for a break and that trip to Japan!

Friendship only kept frozen in time

Nicely put.

I never believe that statement till old friend (whom i first known him since primary 1) got married. I was his best man. We were both very busy with our careers and work but the friendship between us never changed. We may not see each other so often but that day of his marriage, he has my full support and our friendship never weaken by time.

But I dunno if this only happens to best of friends. But true friendship never dies and goes beyond eat, drink and be merry.

Haha, I think I know which boss you're talking about. They used to call him the Dark Lord when he was in Policy.

Hey thanks for the surprise mail!

*feeling loved*

although it's been 3 weeks, my heart still lingers on in Tokyo's madness and diversity. I should have been born a Jap!

Tansoku!
