:: It's always the darkest before the dawn ::

Regrets collect like old friends
Here to relive your darkest moments
I can see no way, I can see no way
And all of the ghouls come out to play
And every demon wants his pound of flesh
But I like to keep some things to myself
I like to keep my issues drawn
It's always darkest before the dawn

-- Florence and the Machine, "Shake It Out"

Have you ever paused; stood at a high point of your life, and look down at the rolling fields of green? With the sun shining bright across a cloudless sky of blue?
And you thought that life has never been better?

Only to be alerted by a distant rumbling sound of thunder. You turned your head and look backwards. Dark clouds were gathering.

When things are smooth-sailing, that is when a disruption would usually happen. Nothing stays constant, and moves from light to dark, and then light again. Or up to down, and then up again. When you are hungry, you eat to be full. And when you are full, you get hungry after a while. Then you eat again. The cycle goes on.

And then unpleasantness becomes the stranger that turns up uninvited at the party. And he won't leave without a drink. As expected, he stays longer than you would like him to, but what could you do anyway? What you could do is to smile and be the best possible host. And perhaps, the party could be a great one.

At least, when he leaves, there would be relief, and likely some joy. As Florence would have it, it's always the darkest before the dawn.
